Blizzard launches new digital download service New store set to service users for upcoming Blizzard titles
The games may be a little old but that means very little with a Blizzard title (witness the popularity of the Diablo series).
So far on offer is Warcraft III, the Frozen Throne Expansion and Starcraft Anthology. They appear to be gearing up for impending releases which have driven gamers slightly insane with the wait. No other title are yet on offer but it has been speculated that the eagerly awaited Starcraft II will be on offer once it releases soon and the rumour mill is churning regarding a possible announcement of Diablo III.
Blizzard has confirmed that they are working on a “top secret” MMO title though which will be unrelated to the World of Warcraft franchise and suspicions are that they are considering converting the Diablo series into an MMO setting.
Whether this would work is a matter of opinion but if it comes into reality, sales for the game will be sure to skyrocket either way. World of Warcraft is not yet available on the download site but it can still be located on third-party download sites.
Blizzard has also started a lottery system whereby registered users could find themselves invited to take part in public beta tests in future.
